On 24 April 2018, the Brest Regional Library named after Maxim Gorky hosted an evening with
documentary artist Vladimir Gubenko titled “Once Again Wandering the Streets of Brest…” The
event was organised by the Library in partnership with the Museum of Rescued Art Treasures
and the Brest Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The evening was opened by the Library’s director, Elena Yakovlevna Strizhevich. A welcoming
address was delivered by Lilia Alexeyevna Svidunovich, Head of the Department for
Coordination of Cultural Organisations at the Main Directorate for Ideological Work, Culture
and Youth Affairs of the Brest Regional Executive Committee. She highlighted the significance
of the graphic drawings created by Vladimir Nikolaevich, which today constitute an illustrated
history of the city of Brest.
