On 21 March, at the Museum of Rescued Art Treasures, 85-year-old Brest resident Vladimir
Gubenko launched his book “Brest of My Memory. The 1930s–1960s.” The book brings
together drawings made from memory and from the accounts of friends. The launch was
attended by local historians, scholars, artists, and representatives of the diplomatic
community. Opening the event, the head of the city Alexander Rogachuk said: “I am deeply
grateful to you, Vladimir Nikolaevich! It is by relying on people like you — on all those who
care — that we fulfil our task: to move the city forward, following the logic of its development,
while at the same time preserving for our descendants the character of the city that existed
before us.” Photo report by Brestsky Vestnik, photographs by Yury Makarchuk.
